Not the end of the world kind of news, but some very discouraging events took place.. It started out great, ran the bike around checking the jetting, plug looked beautiful, decided to ride it one more time, and on the way back it started losing power, so I shut it down and coasted in, went to check the plug HOPING it didnt go lean and melt down.. I found this... Huge thanks to Josh and his pile O parts, took a rocker arm off of a parts XL250 in the shed, and am going to be putting it together tonight, should be ready to run.

Better find a 350 rockerarm and box as the 250 bolts on but doesn't work. Quit turning it over 9500rpm. With the cam I use and spring pressure etc. 10,500rpm and I'll have a broken intake in a lap or 2 everytime. Peak hp is about 8500rpm with a cam and less for stock cam. Pat Orman.

Another thing, the rockerboxs don't necessarily exchange as the cam bore does not align in some cases. Pat Orman.

Thanks again Pat,glad to see you are out of the hospital. I did find out the hard way that 250 arm didn't fit,I ended up taking one from my old bike. I patched the broken rocker box for the reason you mentioned. While the bore may be close I am sure it is not exact. Besides I didn't have an extra laying around that was bored for a roller cam.

I just seen an ad on the internet for a 76 xl350. The bike is cafe racer styled now but all original parts[supposedly mint]come with it. Shows 4500miles on speedo. Here's the kicker, it comes with a spare, unassemled motor for which he has a new Powroll crank, a JE 412 kit, new SS valves, seats, guides, Tytop spring kit and a Barnett clutch. Maybe gaskets and seals, not sure. Added up to over $1300 in new parts. $2000 for all. xlguy76@cox.net is the email address. Pat Orman. ps in Chandler, Az.

That's a pretty good, except it would be a tad bit illegal in the 0-400cc class I have been running.

Only about 50cc. The stock motor only "shows" 4500miles. Too bad they aren't sideports. Anyway it appears to be a decent deal. Pat Orman.

The reason I run sideports is they are legal everywhere and the Cport isn't. The motors run the same. Yeah cracing, what's 50cc. I'm spotting a lot of people 200cc in the 600pro class. 480-680. Is the 250-400 class the only amature class you can run in TJ? JUST letting you guys know about what appears to be a decent buy. I'll make sure I don't do that again. YOUR WELCOME, Pat Orman.
