Just wanted to give an update on how Springfield went.. Round 2 (reschedule)
First the short track was on Saturday night, which turned out to be nothing like a blue groove, imagine that! Just when it seemed like it was gonna groove up they would work the dirt just enough to loosen it all back up again.. We made improvements, but just couldn't get comfortable. So we ended up automatically gearing up already for the next day at the mile, where we knew improvements would happen.
The mile was as smooth as it ever had been, and of course led to faster gearing through out the day. We made huge improvements from my times in May, and finally jumped up into the 18th position in the last session of qualifying. I believe everybody was stoked, including Mike who couldn't make this race, and really helped boost the confidence level. In the heat I had a second row start, which was to my advantage (or so we thought). I didn't get a great start, and ended up slipping towards the back. Our gearing was way off, seeing how the track got faster, which really affected our entry into the turns. When I pulled off the track I automatically said drop 2 teeth without hesitation, it was irritating to know we would start at the back of the lcq.
So in the lcq we were on the 3rd row, with the whole entire pack in front of us. I got some good traction off the start and was automatically in the mix of the 2nd row. (P.S. I have gopro footage of it which I will be uploading sometime) Anyways we made it up to 7th at the last lap, but suddenly the holes started to fill with other riders. It was crazy how much the draft affected you even in the turns. We ended up 11th, probably being 2 bike lengths off of 4th. It was a great experience, and from running the Indy mile and Springfield again, we should be right in the pack for next May. The mile is definitely a great track, and luckily I have a great competitor who I can call for any information I need. I just don't know if I can beat his 3 wins there
We are definitely excited for next season, and what its going to bring for the MHR race team. I couldn't do it without Mike Hamilton, Pat with Major League Moto, Bob Troxel at Motorsports, Clarke Racing, Kraft Electric, Josh with the best Powdercoating business in the WORLD ;D and Aaron and Tim Lindfors
