Had a blast at Jeeps yesterday. Spent about 3 hours there running hot laps. Turns one and two were in pretty good shape, three and four not so much. They had lots of perpendicular ruts from water drainage. I had gotten my lap times down to about 23 seconds, give or take a half second. Then coming into turn four I low sided and broke the shifter shaft inside the case. Since it was stuck in second gear and leaking a little oil racing was over. We got home, pulled her apart and ordered a new shaft. $19.99 on ebay and it'll be here Thursday.

I've been doing a bit of thinking, as scary as that may be. Is there anyone out there who'd be willing to meet me at the track and watch me run some hot laps and tell me what I'm doing wrong and right? If you'd be willing to let me follow you on a few laps and then follow me on a few laps I think that'd really help also.
I don't have trouble getting around the track at all or keeping control of the bike. It's just that I've never raced flat track before so I know what it should look like but it's hard to tell if I'm doing that while I'm riding.
Totally different topic: Is anyone else going to the races in Emporia on 14 Sept?

Glad you got it going! Having fun at Jeeps? I have never timed myself there, so I can't comment ont he lap times.
I went to the Lyon County Fair a few years ago. It was mostly kids on dirtbikes and quads. It was fun, but I was the only flatrtacker there and got thrown in to the class with modern 450's+. They have races like that at the Johnson County Fair in Gardner too.
I'm hoping to be at Hays for the last race of the I-70 series on Sept. 14th. You should come out and race that 3/8ths mile. If I remember right I think the track has good banking, but it was like 2008 or so and it was my 3rd time ever on a race track... So I may be wrong. My little 250 doesn't do well on the bigger tracks, but I need to get out and race anyway. The last scheduled races of the year are down at Jeeps, hoping to make it to those too!

I was planning on the race at Emporia that weekend. It's half the distance from me. I don't think they'll have as many classes I can run in though. . .
***Cancel that, the only class at Emporia I could run my 400cc modified street bike in would be "250cc+ two and four stroke" I think I'd get stomped by a half lap in potentially. That class sounds like it'd be open to anything from my bike up to an XR750 or a Bultaco Astro. Just Googled the classes. It looks like Hays is on the calendar.

Cool... Hays will be fun, plus we'll get to see some pro and expert GNC racers dice it up. Man, them guys are impressive!!

I hate to disappoint, but I'll have to ride the street bike up tomorrow. I don't have a truck or the money to rent one. I priced a few different companies, just to Hays and back over a couple days runs around $300+. Really frustrating.
