So what exactly is the difference between open pro and 450 pro? the same guys seem to be running the exact same bikes in both classes. So aren't they essentially the same?
Why not cut one of the classes, raise the fee on a single class creating more money to payout per event?
Instead of $30 per class and winning $150, Pay $45 to win $250 just an idea since i have no clue how the payout works with those guys.

Yes the same riders tend to run in both classes. They do, however, have the optioin in the open pro of riding ANY bike they choose (i.e. at Stockton some of them pulled out the big twin to ride instead of the 450). One could also ride a Rotax in the open class if they wanted. But on short tracks, they prefer to stick with the 450.
And cutting one of those classes and raising the entry fee would put less money in the purse/riders pockets. Plus for the last 2 years we have has the "Motorsports Money Lap" where the rider leading the first last of the 450 and Open mains put 50 bucks in his pocket just for leading that lap. 1 race per night instead of 2 would mean only 1 money lap per night.
450: 4 riders @ $30=120 x 1.5 (we pay back 150%)=$180 total purse Open: 4 riders @ $30=120 x 1.5 (we pay back 150%)=$180 total purse ($360 total for 2 classes)
One class: 4 riders @ $45=180 x 1.5=$270 total purse

However the math says that you are proportionally spending the same amount of money to win. $30 to win $180 is the same mathmatically as $45 to win $270 (winning 6 times more than entry fee) The advantage of two races is different people have a chance to win the same money. Disadvantage is that the crowd is essentially watching the same race if the riders and bikes dont change and it takes more time out of the program. So what I am picking up is that on a ST since the 450 is better suited, then it is safe to say you will see the same bikes being raced in both classes. Stockton wasn't a GPFTS race, but yes a 1/2 mile track is more advantageous for a twin or large single. They offered a 450 pro class, a Modern 750 (twins only?), and Modern Unlimited (singles only?)
