Our hats are off to all the people in the orange shirts who worked so hard to get the race going last night. Orange is the new purple! Martin was skeptical about the track but loved it once he got out there on it.
Thanks also to everyone who rode around and around in circles to get the track wheel packed so we could race, and Ray for moving the mud. The rider turn out was amazing and I think it just goes to show how much support you have to get this thing going.
It was great to see several old faces last night....just like old times.
The Walter/Keesecker crew.

I, too, had a great time at the Jeeps short track Saturday night. After driving in circles for a couple of hours, I was so glad to see the track firm up enough to race on. I thank everybody who came out to watch and/or participate. It turned out to be a good night of good racing action. Yes! Thank you everybody who drove around for hours to make a racetrack at Jeeps. Many of the observers, myself included, were shaking their heads thinking it was hopeless, but we stuck around because the trucks kept going round. In the end it was a great night of racing!

BTW: Was that Dustin from Topeka driving around for hours with his family to help get a track for all of us to race on?
(This is a rhetorical question)

I too, would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone that made both our days of racing possible. Dan put 29 miles on his truck just wheel packing Saturday night and others put even more (we called it a 200 lap qualifier). The Jeeps crew was awesome and bent over backwards to help us make that race happen. It was a long, stressful and taxing day for the Jeeps family and we appreciate their dedication to our race and wanting to make it happen as much as we did. Great Job Ray Hoch for making a track out of a sheet of mud.!
Jim Bell and all the Great Bend crew/Fair Board also did a fabulous job getting that track ready for us as well. I know you've been working on it for weeks now. Having our tables and easy ups already set up was great too, so all we had to do was pull in and set up shop. Tracy, thanks for loaning us the quad, it made a huge difference in how smooth we were able to run things.
And man did we see some good racing or what? Thanks to the riders for their patience with sign-in and the (few) line-up switches we had to make.
I know I'm probably forgetting a couple of you, but believe me, we appreciate each and every one of you. Several riders didn't make it due to family or weather concerns. We missed you guys and hope to see you soon. It was a great weekend and we can't wait for next Saturday!!!

There were several people who put more laps on the track than I. At 1/5 mile per lap, I put on about 145 laps. I know Brandon and others put on even more, a lot more. I had to sit out for a while to unwind (literally......I have motion sickness and had to let it pass for a bit...). Thanks, again, to everybody involved.......the racers for having the confidence in us to get the track ready, the fans for waiting it out, and all the club personnel and others involved in track prep.

We had a great time this weekend. We appreciate everyones hard work. When we left Great Bend Kolton had tears in his eyes because the weekend was over. That says it all. Missing the Bell boys, the Toon boys, and the Kurtzs may have had something to do with it but those orange shirts made his first full weekend of racing one he will never forget. To me that is what our sport needs. Great experiences for first timers no matter 4 years old or 104. Show them why it's great and they'll never forget.
