Hey thanks everybody! I just spoke to Bill, he sounds excited! He is calling Mike tomorrow to tell him he will be there, so please get the checks in the mail. I told him that when he is standing on the podium being interviewed he has to thank every one of you ;D

Bill will be keeping track of what he receives money wise and from whom. If Bill receives a little more money than it takes him to get there, he has plans for a way to show his gratitude that I think everyone will like. He has also offered to drive me, and since my car is stalling when I decelerate, I might take him up on it. I changed the fuel filter last night, hoping that was the problem, but it isn't, so I was planning on driving the long distance praying the whole way. This really is an event that will most likely become a part of Flat Track Racing History and now Bill will be a part of it, as he should. Thanks again! Now I need to get on the phone and order him a replacement brake from A & A racing. He thought he had one, but he doesn't, and he just might need it . ;D Check out Mike Kidd's announcement that Bill is in the race: www.flattrack.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=46&func=view&id=99280&catid=3Brigtta

Brigtta, If your car is an automatic it probably has a thing called a dashpot on the carb that will cause the problem you described. It slows the carb from slamming shut down near idle. Pat Orman.

It is a manual transmission with fuel injection. Thanks for the information though. I had this problem a while back when my clutch needed adjusting. I adjusted the clutch and the problem went away. A couple of months ago the problem started again right about the time my clutch went goodbye. I had a new hydraulic clutch installed and everything was wonderful on the drive home, but the next time I drove the car it was stalling and idling very rough. I assumed it had something to do with the clutch and wanted to get the car back in, but Jake, who helped me pay for the new clutch and had just put money into his van, didn't think it was related. I have been running the fuel injector and engine cleaner stuff and octane booster along with super premium fuel and I changed my fuel filter. The car is making better power, and the idle has smoothed out some, but it still, sometimes but not always, drops rpm and dies when I downshift to stop or make a turn . I have had this car for many years. It has been very good to me, but it is time for a new one. Brigitta

100%!!??!! Lord have mercy on them other 'tacos. We can barely handle Bultaco Bill at 70%. When he gets mad he goes to 80%. This is the scale I was told by the man himself. Go get 'em Bill!!!!! By the way.... The Bul-Fighter can feel the universe turning upside down with all those Astros in one place at one time. I just have to keep the shop door locked with the air conditioner on high to calm her down.... Like a caged dog with a rabbit running around in the yard...... Josh Trail

I am sorry I haven't updated everybody here. It was a very fun, but exhaustive weekend and I am just now recovering. Yes, were rained out. I am most sorry for Bill. He kept telling me the whole way that he planned on giving 100% to this race because of everybody who helped to get him there. He didn't get to race, but he was a great ambassador for GPFTS. He knows everybody, for instance Chris Carr and Mike Kidd were talking to him like they were old friends. Bill told everybody that without GPFTS members he wouldn't be there. Bill entertained me with stories of his youth and racing during the long drive. He even has me believing some of them. ;D At the beginning of our journey I was saying things like, "You might be right," in response to the information he so generously shared, as the trip progressed I found myself agreeing wholeheartedly, "You are right". By the end of our trip I didn't even bother with any acknowledgement, he needs no affirmation, he knows he is right. ;D I want to assure everybody that the money donated for Bill took care of Bill's expenses. He drove and I payed my half. He kept track of everything, but even with my help, he needed nearly all of what was donated to him, it was an expensive trip. I had a wonderful time, and I think Bill did too. Thank you everybody. Brigitta
