Well we made it home late last night after watching some great races at Topeka. Here is the info I remember from Du Quoin. Mile 450 Mod Dalton Bell 11th, Dylan B just missed making the main by 2 spots Mile Pro Sport Colt 3rd and Mike Toon 6th TT 65cc Mod Dylan Misner 10th TT 85 Mod Chance Kurtz 9th I believe Colt also made the main in Pro Sport 1/2 Mile 50cc Mod Dalton Misner 7th 1/2 Mile 65cc DTX and Mod, Dylan Misner made both mains and placed around 9-11th in both. 1/2 Mile 85 mod Chance K 6th Mike Toon had a rough day on the cushion 1/2 mile, having a couple tough getoffs in the practice than mechanical problems in the heat race. Colt looked good but came up short from making the main. Next day was suppose to be ST but was rained out, so the little guys did 1/2 mile again and big guys were postponed. All three boys made their mains again and placed about the same give or take a spot or two. Just talked to Chris, he said that the D Bell boys and Toon came up a little short of making the 1/2 mile today. Colt made it but placed towards the back. All 4 are getting ready to do the ST this afternoon. Overall all the boys are riding really good and representing KS quite well. Big thanks goes out to Dan for making the trip in the rain on his motorcycle. See everyone at Jeeps. Mike

Any of the boys should be congratulated for making the mains. You've never seen such tough fields.
I keep trying to get to the top of the podium in the Senior class and Vintage, but I keep coming up short. You've got to have some good luck too.
I finished 2nd overall in the Vintage singles with a 10th on the mile (bike quit); fourth on the TT after falling in the first turn, second on the half mile and second on the short track.
In the super senior class, I was eighth on the mile (I brought a knife to a gunfight - several XR 750s and plenty of TL 1000 Suzukis and me on my little Rotax); fifth on the TT (set fast heat win and got bounced off the track on the start - worked my way from tenth to fifth - not a bad job considering how tight the track was); second on the half mile (Jim Monegan) and second on the short track (another lousy start and had to work through the pack).
I need a good starting line lesson. I'm taking ideas. Let me know how to get off the line and maybe I can win something.
The DTGCs were a good time again this year. You vintage guys - bring it to DuQuoin next year for a week of vacation and racing. It's a blast.
See you all in Kansas City.

Scratch that - Johnny Isaacs finished second on the short track in the Super Seniors. He got by me when I was struggling to pass Curt Comer. By the way, that one slip moved me off the box in the overall.
Speaking of Johnny, he won the overall in the Super Seniors with a second on the short track, TT and mile and a 9th on the half mile. It was his 60th birthday.
Congratulations Johnny.

Congratulations to all the riders from the Midwest competing at the Grand Nationals. I enjoy watching the results of our pro-sport and young amateur riders. It makes all of us proud to say we know you. Special congratulations to Grand Champion, engine tuner extraordinare and all around nice guy, Johnny Isaacs. Not only is he fast, he builds engines like rockets. Grab a handful and drop the clutch, you’re headed for the moon! Congratulations Johnny! Brigitta #20m

Got home late last night so here is the update from the Sunday rain date. Once again we were on the TT(not our strong point). Dylan made both mains through the semi. Ended up 12th in the 65 mod and 9 or 10 in the dtx. Dalton got 6th. Dylan ended up 10th overall in both classes and Dalton was 8th. We were sooo pleased to be able to copete at that level. The goal was to make one main and Dylan only missed 1 out of 8. He was in the transfer spot in the dtx classes on Monday and lost the front end. Randy was right about the luck. Dylan and Dalton said it helps to have such fine riders to race against back home. So thanks to all the racers that push them so hard at home . THANK YOU JIM BELL FOR EVERYTHING THIS WEEK! See ya'll this weekend. The Miseners ;D
