Getting a little excited, we leave in less than 24 hrs for IA. ;D Wish some more of our gang would go . It's really something to walk and see all the motorcycle swap meet stuff and all the vintage bikes. The weather for camping is looking great in Davenport! Daniel

Wish I could, Dan... but I'll be feeling lucky if I can save up entry fee/pit pass $$ for our last 2-dayer at Jeeps.
My buddy from IA is trying to talk me into going to the Massena, IA, race on Sept. 13th, but that one will be tough for me to make too. I may have to go for some parts swapping though... He needs some 35mm Ceriani's and I need some wide clamps, etc...
Have a great time at Davenport and go fast!

Oh yeah, if you have time, go bother Josh for me... Since I won't be there to ask him dumb questions and borrow sprockets and such... ;D

You'll have to stay away from lots of people...... my kids, my employees, my customers, my vendors, my neighbors, my renters, but most of all MY WIFE! We arrived in the camping area about 4:30 or so Thursday. I could tell there were many more people compared to the same time last year. The weather could not have been better in my opinion. The track was the best I'd seen in the last 3 years! Lots of riders but I never got a total count from Matt. One thing I missed for sure (besides all the orange shirts ) was a practice and race number board. It's all I can do to make the right race let alone be on time! Practice was to be 2 sessions with a possible third 'open', instead we got ONE I don't know who won what class, and should of had some paper and pen to make some notes Open AM was packed with 3 heats of 8 I believe. I was 5th in my heat so had one more chance in the semi. Semi was great. Hole shot and held it for 1 whole lap into turn one, then passed by two. Managed 3rd and made the 15th spot for the main. Sad thing is I started the main on the 3rd row and well that's right where I finished, 15th lol. But we had a blast and I've now done something I've wanted to do for years so as far as being there and the racing I was all ;D The only real 'incident' that I witnessed was not on the track but it was not good, and needs to be addressed. Checking the user log here the past couple of days gave me some relief that some of our friends made it home ok. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Jeeps, at the same time a little sad that the year is almost gone Daniel #309 p.s. I hear there is a 1/2 mile in Waco Oct 3/4.... shorter straights but wider turns than Davenport. Hmmmmmmm

Dan, They had you listed as 13th on the flattrack.com forum, you must've passed a couple guys going pretty fast...
Hope the off-track incidents didn't involve any local riders/friends.

Hey Kyle, Heck I was sure there were 15.... 4 from each heat and 3 from the semi. I never passed anyone, nope. I remember 6 each row then the 3 of us in the back back. I saw what Will posted LOL he only SLIGHTLY butchered some of the spelling and locations. Maybe he didn't get all of us posted I dunno but hats off for the effort and the post Wild Will! All in all I got to ride the track 4 times and didn't knock anyone down, so I'm a happy clam! ;D

Yeah..... Fun is the word. It's a rush to race there. There's a million things going on at once. You have to count the races and know the order. The Bul-Fighter carried me to a respectable 4th place finish. Not used to starting on the second row...So I lined up behind Covert I left it all on the track, and went home happy. One Bultaco in front of me and two of 'em behind me. Bul Fightin' at its best. As usual, I got to hang out with some of my favorite people. See you guys next weekend!! Josh Trail 29g
