Nice wide track, groove was narrow, lots of dust. Hats off to Steve for all the track work just to make it happen! I heard a couple of times that the whole track was under water last year up about 2/3's of the stands, and turns 1/2 were totally rebuilt. Practice left me in a blind dust storm at times Tons of racers showed and they even had a brake-less vintage class! I think there were four or so from our area including Colt, Toon, Snyder, and myself. Met lots of nice folks. In a nutshell, I got waxed in both heavy vintage and 40+ and now fully understand the use of the blue/yellow flag! Don't ask me about who took what class.... it's all I can do to get in the right practice and make it to staging in time for my race! 6 hours drive there, $48 for a room at the Roy El in Wapello just 20 minutes away (they even had a microwave and fridge if you wanted to plug them in.) I'd go again. Daniel #309

The three Walter boys were there as well and enjoyed the day of racing. (They do prefer Randy the flagman instead of a green light!) Martin was in heaven because there were four 65cc bikes!

Dan, you looked like you were turning better times every lap. Just take it a little deeper in the corner and turn it on a little quicker every time around. Your corner speed will improve which will result in better lap times which will result in no more blue and yellow flags.
It was a pretty skinny notch and the Kansas crowd looked good. Mike and Colt, the Walters boys, old man Snyder were all showing them how to ride a slippery, three foot wide race track.
In defense of Steve Nace however, he made a good race track out of some sketchy dirt. Nice job.
I was second old man to finish in the vintage class. Jerry Cheney paid me back for whipping up on him last week. I got to stretch the legs on the Priestley Shell 750 Yamaha and got a feel for it before heading to LaMonte next weekend and the Peoria TT for the Vintage Twin Invitational in two weeks.
Special thanks to Ron Lancaster for putting me on his brakeless HD Sprint for the brakeless class. Nine bikes and we had a hoot. I managed to finish second behind Tony Berger's 500 Triumph and had just about as much fun as you could have with a motorcyle that shifts backwards and only has one pedal for your feet. Thanks Ron. It was a blast.
See you all at LaMonte.
