Well it's taking me some time but the Yamaha is under going a little transformation. I stripped the frame, tank, swingarm, and fender then took the frame and motor to Eagle Stripping for the bead blast. When I get it back Dave and I (and maybe Bob you will be there too?) will break down the top end and see how things look. Not 100% on what the color scheme is other than black and yellow of some sorts. I wanted something that would show up and maybe keep y'all from running over me ;D

It figures that the p/t work has really picked up, right when I have the bike to finish and assemble . The frame is painted, engine is assembled and ready to prep and paint. Tank and fender still in process. Not going to complain about all the work though when so many are losing jobs and hours. Spring will be here before you know it ;D

Took vacation Tuesday and moved the engine outside in the sun. Removed all the oil and finger prints then shot the primer. It looks good, better than I had expected for a light primer coat. I'll give it a few days maybe a week to cure then paint it.
I'm lucky to have a shop (the night job location) with a fork lift, paint booth, blasting cabinet, etc... and can come or go anytime. That fork lift makes moving the engine here and there or back to the rack a back saver!

YAWN....... kinda quiet here so I'll yap some at myself ;D I've not seen anything new on the boards for 6 or so days. Maybe everyone is finishing up with hibernation or feverishly working on their bikes, getting ready for the season. Speaking of which I'm a little closer now. The rear rim and hub are polished and the wheel re-laced. I had planned to use SS spokes, however Jim had NOS Yamaha spokes and must of taken some personal interest in doing it for me. The pick-up price was about half of what it would of cost and not only that, I dropped the rim and hub off Tuesday knowing it might be the end of the week or the following Tuesday, since there were a at least a couple ahead of me. He called 2 days later on Thursday and asked if I had sunglasses and a checkbook with me. Wow I was impressed with the promptness (I knew the quality would be superb, all the dealers around here have him lace their wheels). Tank, fender, swing arm, frame, mounts, all now have a good base coat of paint. I'm doing some simple graphic masks then the final paint. I keep telling Jack (painter that is helping me) it ain't a show bike and will probably kiss the dirt sooner or later etc. Engine is finished and ready for the frame. Many of you knew this bike as "The Viper" rode by Bob Ives. This time with some refinishing and new life I've decided to work the other end. That actually means something once you see it I really need to swap that BSA mx avatar.... soon grasshopper, soon.
