The GPFTS family was hit with some very sad news. Larry McGilton passed away this last week (his funeral service was Tuesday, the 20th). Larry is the father of Justin McGilton and the grandfather of Evan McGilton, both class winners in 2014.
It goes without saying that Larry gave his endless support to Justin and Evan; he was always a positive presence watching every lap that his “boys” were on the track.
Personally for me, and every other member of the GPFTS staff, we will miss Larry’s constant show gratitude for the job we do. There was never a race that the McGilton team attended, when the event was over that Larry did not seek us out and let us know how much he and his family appreciated what we do. We do what we do because we love the sport and want to see the sport grow, but one of the reasons this sport has such a hold on us is because of people like Larry, he will be greatly missed.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to all the McGilton family and friends.
