Alright kids....
So TJ got home safe and sound last friday.... First thing we get ready is for some hot race action at Marshalltown, IA saturday nite.....
So we leave the enclosed trailer at home....and pull the open trailer through the rain for an hour.... Good start.....
Decent weather, but sweat central at Marshalltown.... They said it was a quarter mile, it's bigger than that, closer to 3/8, and banked up high.... Ol Matt George did the track prep, you know it's gonna be good when there's a big Peterbilt with flames up on the banks waterin...
Through the agony of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, on the karts to race.... We finally got to race. I diced back and forth with a kid on another XL in my heat... Poor ol TJ drew the "Rotax" heat and had to race against some fast dudes...
Then, we waited forever again, then raced the main. Keep in mind this is vintage open pro,,,any bike 30 years or older can race. And we came out swinging our dukes on our 350s... Well, the Bul-Fighter gets the holeshot,,,,it happens,,,, and leads for about a lap and a half, then Jerry Cheney came blasting around on some sort of fire-breathing dragon like I was parked in his way... Then we rode like that for about 9 laps (12 lap main) and a Rotax came callin... Couldn't hold him off, so I got 3rd... Not too bad for a worn out old XL350.
TJ, on the other hand, had a different kind of luck, his brake master cylinder bracket broke off in the first couple laps, so he was free wheelin around somewhere back there... he won't say exactly where, but he beat the guy who slid up off and over the bank in turn 2....
Another Trail Performance Coatings Flat Track team member was in action too.... Cody Miles from Mitchell, SD threw down in the modern open pro. Heck of a ride.... You see, these boys will keep you racing when there's a fellow racer or bike laying on the track. They throw the yellow, but you keep racing. Two times, Cody got passed under yellow when he let up, and twice he passed 'em back to bring home the win.....
I'll post pics as soon as I get them, or as soon as TJ posts them...
