As some of you may know, one of our favorite racers Mark Jantz was involved in a on track crash. It happened this last Friday night during a indoor short track race in Springfield MO. Mark led into the final lap turn one. As he planted his left leg the pursuing rider "came into contact with it". Mark continued the last lap knowing that his leg was pointing the wrong direction!!, and took the Win!! He then rode to the pits! Mark was joined by the emergency team and friends (shout out to Chad Beckly, thanks). I spoke with Mark tonight. Mark: "Got out of the hospital Monday evening around 5:00p.m. Had surgery Sat. morning. Both bones were broken just above the ankle. Had to have a plate and eight or nine screws installed. I'll go back to the Dr. in four weeks to have longest screw removed but all the rest will remain." "I'm going to have lots of time to set around and visit as Dr. said I'll probably be off work 3 to 4 months." During the whole event Mark never let on like "my leg is broken", ( and it visibly was!) as a matter of fact he smiled and carried on while taking pictures with friends and fans!
Man Mark Jantz is one tough dude!
But, remember, no man is an island. Drop him a message just to let him know that we, his race family, are all thinking of him.
Heal fast Mark, We'll hold your spot on the starting line.

Hey Mark, Tell that doctor and hospital that you should be dancing by next weekend for the price they charged. Come to think of it, better wait till your healed, otherwise they'll get even in therapy. 3 to 4 months, at least Stockton is after that. Don't eat too many painpills, they'll make you grumpy with a high possibility of shutting down your outgoing freight line. Seeya, Pat.

Hey everyone, Thanks for all the posts and thinking about me.I,m already bored to death.I guess at least theres daytona stuff on t.v. to keep me a little bit occupied.Too bad its not two wheeled action.Got off the phone with Lloyd Hale last night and he told me his 24 foot enclosed trailer was stolen from his home in Tongonoxie this week.Sounds like most of his race gear, tools, and some bike parts including frames and honda engines were in it. Hope he'll post on here exactly what was stolen so we can all keep an eye out for it.Especially those of you who are near the K.C. area. Thanks again everybody for your prayers and would love to visit with you guys about your upcoming season plans if you have time. Its going to be a long recovery time from what the dr. tells me.417-830-6182 See ya all.

Gawd Mark, get well and take care of that leg. The Harley has new paint and Steve Bigsby checked over the engine. The XR will be available for you to ride this season when you are ready. See you soon.

Pain is temporary, glory is forever and chicks dig scars. You've joined the plate and screw club. Welcome Mark!!! I'd say get well soon but it's pretty obvious that aint happening.
Loyd, Post some info. I got 22 employees in the area that can keep an eye out.

Thanks for the call Rodney and all your support.I sure hope I get a chance to ride that sweet machine again this season. JIM, I know they say chicks dig scars but I've got one who has been dealing with this kind of crap for thirty years now,in and out of the hospital countless times and stuck buy me through it all.I think she's just about had a dose this time.Time will tell I guess.Too bad somebody has to screw things up for ya when its all lined up good for the new season.I appreciate all of your calls and posts everybody.Pain pills are doing a pretty good job.Hope that makes time go by faster and recovery sooner ;D See ya all,
Mark

Mark,
Sorry to hear about your leg. I started off my year in 2009 with a broken leg and the rest of the year worked out okay.
I hope it does for you as well.
Maybe that Ozark Hillbilly that you travel with has the right idea when it comes to indoor short tracks.
Hope your recovery is a good one.

Thanks Randy, You had a real good year last year as I recall.Hope I have as good a recovery as you.Would love to compare notes on your injury. Maybe better know what to expect and a time frame as to how yours responded.Just got of the phone with Kevin Beatson comparing his injury to mine.Sounds like his was much more severe, broken multiple places and had to have a rod installed in the big bone from his knee down. He's doing very well with his so that gives me hope, although his has been quite a while in healing.Give me a call some time when you have time.
Mark
