I was doing a little research for a friend and thought I would share something with you guys, for what it's worth. In our first year as the GPFTS (10 races total) we saw riders from 16 different states and 1 foreign country.
And now you've had your daily dose of useless information. Only it came from me instead of my dad for a change!
You may now resume your regularly scheduled activities. ;D

Foolish? No, just despondent and in need of diversion. What was the total number of individual riders? How many participated in more than one class? What race attracted the most riders? Average height, weight, and hair color of participants? If I can get answers to the above questions I should have enough to contemplate to get through to spring. Thanks! ;D #20m

Ok not been there YET and not included in the stats mentioned, however I was doing fine on the 'average height, weight, thing till you mentioned hair oh well I'll make up for it in other ways and besides, all that hair would just slow me down (when putting on my helmet) ;D

'getta, You are MORE THAN welcome to come sit in my dining room/office and analyze data to your little heart's content! ~cherry Thank you for your kind offer, but I have discovered an equally unimportant way to employ myself closer to home. Yesterday, I spilled a box of toothpicks on the counter top. As I gathered them up I noticed the box said "750 Flat Toothpicks". The brain was in high gear and the question occurred to me, "Are there really 750 toothpicks in a box"? I've determined to purchase toothpicks from various local groceries, count the individual toothpicks and do a statistical analysis of the data. The project may expand to regional and national levels at some point, but I bet I discover some really unimportant stuff! Does the title "Quality Control Consumer Advocate" sound properly important for an unimportant job? Thanks for the impetus to get me going! #20m

Much akin to Kyle's errrrr... affliction.....
I would like to know what geometric shapes they may have made after they fell, and the quantity of such shapes. Are pictures available?
Thanks,
Josh

O.C.D. is one of several anomalies common among flat trackers that can be controlled! The other day, after carefully measuring all the toothpicks, discarding those that were to short or long and arranging them in neat, orderly, equally numbered stacks, I MESSED them up! I then closed the box, placed it in the cupboard and positioned myself on the couch to exercise deep breathing. This led to a little nervous twiddling of thumbs and grinding of teeth. It was a full 10 minutes before I ran back to the cupboard and straightened toothpicks! My plan is to increase 10 minutes to 12 in a couple of weeks. In order to be of service to my friends and assist on the road to recovery, I'm NOT going to tell how many toothpicks were in the box and I'm NOT posting pictures! Remember, I am your friend! ;D #20m

Thats not helping, all you are going to do is cause more OCD, especially in Josh., (I may bring a box of toothpicks to the race in Des Moines in case he gets bored)

Thats great info. Now the million dollar question is what does it take to get these riders to 5 or 6 events at one time? Stockton is a good draw, but how about other tracks. You guys and gals worked very hard to pick up where the NFTRA quit. I used to have VDTRA numbers that showed how many members each state had, and it was very good as a tool to help promote. I believe at one time Co. had 61 members,WY 27 members and Kansas had a whole bunch, I believe the most. S.D. had over 20 members, MT 15, Washington had 10 or more. IDAHO had several, not forgething My good friend Kit Farley in Utah. Minn. had to many to count, along with IOWA, IL. and the great state of Texas. Then there are the good folks in Arkansas, not forgetting OK. I am sure I am leaving some out, but my point is WHERE ARE THEY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are these riders without a track, lost interest or what. Before we can plan races and events we might need to find out if ant one really wants them. Frank 57x 307-267-6368
